The Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT-PSP) aims at stimulating a wider uptake of innovative ICT based services and the exploitation of digital content across Europe by citizens, governments and businesses, in particular SMEs.

Laboratorium BRAMA, at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, organizes  from August 16th till September 23rd 2011 BIC Summer Start -summer startup acceleration programme.

Over the period of 7 weeks the teams will work on their startup ideas, develop the technology and business model for commercializing the idea. To facilitate the work, teams get free co-working space for the whole duration of the event, coaching and mentoring from leading people in the local start-up scene plus optional pre-seed funding. The developed prototypes will be presented to potential inventors at the Demo Day, organized in October 2011.

On 5-6 December 2011 in Square (Brussels Meeting Centre, the European Commission is holding its first Innovation Convention following the adoption of the Innovation Union Flagship initiative in October 2010.

This major event will gather more than 1200 participants involved in the innovation chain, including high-level policy makers, leading CEOs, deans of universities and research centres, bankers, venture capitalists, top researchers and innovators.

The programme of the Innovation Convention will include master classes and round tables on innovation, an interactive panel debate with global innovation players and the award of the Women Innovators Prize. A detailed programme as well as the registration page for the event will be put on line in September.

The EU Prize for Women Innovators will be awarded to three women entrepreneurs, who were at some point during their careers beneficiaries of funding for projects under the RTD Framework Programme (FP) or the Competitive and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP).
